How to Link to a Checkout Page on Clickbank

Clickbank is a payment processor that manages transactions for thousands of digital product vendors. The company also has a large base of registered affiliates who earn commissions by sending customers to your product pages. The default URL or "hoplink" provided by Clickbank for each product will send visitors to the vendor's sales page, where he can read about the benefits of owning the product. However, it is possible to link directly to the checkout page if you prefer to describe the product on your own website, and therefore bypass the vendor's sales pitch.

Instructions

    • 1
Login to Clickbank. Click on "Marketplace" found on the top horizontal navigation bar. Locate the product you will promote. You can do this by doing a keyword or category search.
    • 2
Click the "Promote" button. This is found next to the description of each marketplace listing. A new window will open. On the top border of the window there will be a sentence that says "Affiliate Program: Promote Products for 'Name.'" Make a note of the name, as this is the vendor's user ID. Navigate to the form fields below, and place your affiliate ID in the first field and click "Create." This will generate an encrypted URL that points to the vendor's sales page. Copy and paste it into your browser address bar and open the page.
    • 3
Locate the "Order" button or "Buy Now" link. You will usually find it toward the end of the sales page. This is a link to the Clickbank order form. Place your cursor over the button or link without clicking. The status bar on the bottom left hand corner of your screen will display a link that looks similar to "1.mddietplan.pay.clickbank.net." The "1" is the product number. As each vendor can list up to 500 products from one account, this number can be anything from 1 to 500, though usually you will find a single digit number. The name of the product is "mddietplan." Make a note of both the product number and name.

Open notepad. Copy and paste the following string, without the quotes: "http://clickbank.net/sell.cgi?YourClickbankName_VendorID/productnumber/nameofproduct" into a new text file.
    • 5
Replace "YourClickbankName" with your affiliate ID. Put the seller's ID in place of "VendorID" and the product number and name where indicated. Copy the link into your browser address bar and press enter. The Clickbank order form will open.
    • 6
Paste the link into your website or blog. You can do this by using the following HTML code: <a href="http://clickbank.net/sell.cgi?YourClickbankName_VendorID/productnumber/nameofproduct" target="_top">Click Here!</a>
Replace the URL with the modified version from your text file.

Tips & Warnings

  • When promoting a Clickbank product you can test your link is working correctly by scrolling down to the bottom of the order page. At the bottom of the page you will see [affiliate = none]. When your link is served correctly, the "none" will be replaced by your affiliate ID.
