Clickbank Vendors: Two Simple Ways You Can Help Affiliates Protect Their Sales.

1) How To Remove Your Affiliates Clickbank Id From The URL.

As a merchant, you can hide the clickbank affiliate id for your affiliates by creating a redirect page and pointing your default hoplink to the redirect.

When some uses your hoplink http://hop.clickbank.net/?affid/yourid, the cookie will be set and they will land on your redirect page.

The redirect will send them to your domain without adding the ?hop= information. The cookie is already set and does not need to be shown.

This will help protect your affiliates commission and give your site a more professional appearance.

In the code examples below, you will need to replace [ and ] with less then and greater then symbols.

Create a file called hoplink.php

Add the following code

[?php
header("Location: http://www.yourdomain.com");
exit;
?]

Upload hoplink.php to the root of your domain.

Login into your clickbank account.
Click to view or modify your account settings.
Click to modify your account.

Under Business Info, change the url of your website to be http://www.yourdomain.com/hoplink.php

Click on save changes.

Now when a visitor clicks on a hoplink, it appears that they came directly to your site and the affiliate's id is no longer exposed. For this technique to be completely effective, the affiliate needs to cloak the hoplink as well.

2) How to Cloak Your Clickbank Vendor Id Using PHP

Most clickbank affiliate theft is caused by the fact that is easy to rebuild a hoplink and get credit for your own purchase. All you really need to know is the vendor id.

All you have to do is look at the source code of a typical sales link and you will see the vendor id.

For example:
http://www.clickbank.net/sell.cgi?YourVendorId/1/Product_Description

To rebuild the hoplink you simply use
http://hop.clickbank.net/?AffiliatesId/YourVendorId

Now when you click on the hoplink and the original affiliate has lost a sale.

As you can see, without knowing the vendor id, you can not successfully rebuild the hoplink and the affiliates sale would be protected.

Below is an example of how to do this in PHP.

You will need to replace [ and ] with less then and greater then symbols.

Create a file called order.php

Add the following code

[?php

header("Location: http://www.clickbank.net/sell.cgi?YourVendorId/1/Product_Description");
exit;
?]

Just replace YourVendorID with your Clickbank ID
Replace 1 with your product number
Replace Product_Description with your Product Description

Upload order.php into the same folder as your sales page.

Now link to order.php instead of using the raw order link and your Vendor ID is never exposed

This will make it very hard for affiliates to rob other affiliates of their commissions.

I encourage you to make these simple changes to protect the commissions of your affiliates.

Clickbank Super Affiliate Secrets

In this podcast I talked to my friend Jeff Siegel a multi million dollar Clickbank affiliate expert (and a heck of a nice guy!). As a top level marketer and partner in "The diet solution program" selling over 1000 copies of health related information products per day you will enjoy the key points on offer here….

Do Sales Videos Work?

Jeff really pushed the envelope testing out Video Sales Pages. Soon a few hundred sales per day turned into a few thousand sales a day. Start with an introduction, then establish credibility and follow up with ten minutes of solid content.

How Super Affiliates Conquer The Market With 500 Sales Per Day…

They use paid advertising. If you are stuck on the 'free' treadmill then it is going to be a slow ride at 1% conversions… Jeff recommends product owners prove conversions yourself first. JV's will send spurts of warm traffic, in fact some affiliates can do 500 sales themselves in a single day. TIP: January is the big month for diet solutions!

How important is the product itself?

You need to continually update the product but it is super important to have quality from the start. Jeff is all about integrity. Make sure you have related up-sells that accelerate the results, save time and effort. Perhaps build a community to encourage additional product consumption. Increase customer service with a call center. Jeff will have operators verify orders and answer questions whilst offering additional deals.

Focus your energy on helping affiliates make money

It takes 75% of your effort to stay up to date and tread water. Jeff has a warning about crazy affiliates who can get you banned from Google. Keep a close eye on them and avoid affiliates who run 'scam' angle campaigns.

Conversion Suggestions

It is essential to conduct split testing and tracking. Jeff often creates special pages for affiliates who make a lot of sales and have a good history. These special pages will have headlines to match ads for continuity. Lead people all the way from start to finish - you must not slack off at the finish. Everything is counter intuitive so persistence and risk are important.

What tools can be used for testing?

Jeff recommends Googles Conversion Optimizer . TIP: always go with simple. Get simple working first then go advanced. Start with A:B split testing before trying heat maps.

Success Tip From Jeff

Go the extra mile with your own internet marketing campaign…
It is essential to perform split testing and also tracking. Jeff frequently creates special webpages for affiliates who make a great deal of sales and have a good ranking.

How to Find a Vendor ID on Clickbank

Clickbank is a payment processor used by thousands of digital product vendors to manage fee processing and the subsequent delivery of digital goods. Clickbank makes it easy for vendors and affiliate marketers to connect, as more than 100,000 affiliates have accounts integrated with the Clickbank digital products marketplace. When vendors create a Clickbank account, they chose an ID, which is later combined with the affiliate's ID, to build a unique URL or "hoplink" for sales tracking purposes.

Instructions
 1

Log in to your Clickbank account. Click "Marketplace" on the horizontal navigation menu. In the page that opens, a list of categories is displayed on the left-hand side of the page. At the top of this page, you'll see a search box entitled "Find Products."
 2

Browse the marketplace by category or enter a keyword in the search box. A list of relevant products pertaining to your category or keyword will load. When you find a product that you are interested in promoting, click the "Promote" button next to the product description. A small window will pop up, with a field to enter your affiliate ID and an optional personal-tracking ID.

3

Note the URL in the address bar of the small window. The last string of words will look something akin to "vendor=2COOK." "2COOK" is the vendor ID.

Tips & Warnings

A Clickbank hoplink to be promoted on your affiliate website or in email newsletters is correctly formulated as "http://AFFILIATE-ID.VENDOR-ID.hop.clickbank.net" (without quotes). However, to help prevent would-be customers from stealing your commissions by replacing your ID with their own ID, enter your affiliate ID in the small window that appears when you click the "promote" button. This will generate an encrypted URL that disguises both the affiliate and vendor IDs.

After adding your Clickbank hoplink to your website, test it to make sure you it is working right, and that customer sales you refer will be credited to your account. Click on your referral hoplink, and scroll down the vendor's sales page until you see an image or text link to purchase the product. Once clicked, this will load a Clickbank order form. If all is working as it should, at the bottom of the form, you will see "[affiliate=YourAfilliateID]" (without quotes).

How to clickbank Start Promoting Your HopLink

How to clickbank Start Promoting Your HopLink

OK, you’ve signed up for your free ClickBank account and have created your first HopLink. But where should you actually start promoting your HopLink? Trying to decide where to spend your time and effort can be a bit overwhelming at first, but we’ll give you some ideas to get started. Once you’ve mastered the basics, your imagination is the only limit to the ways you can promote ClickBank products.

If you have your own website, that is one great place to promote hoplinks. However – it is not necessary to have a website to be a ClickBank affiliate! We’ve created a guide called Common Ways to Promote Products that’s a great place to learn about other methods affiliates use to promote ClickBank products effectively.

An important rule of thumb to remember is that if you want to get a good return on your time, money, and efforts, you should promote products to audiences that might be interested in them. For example, if you post your HopLink to a course on Internet Marketing in a forum dedicated to politics or gardening, people won’t click on your HopLink and you may find yourself quickly banned from the forum.

However, if you link to the same Internet Marketing course in a forum or discussion group dedicated to making money online, along with reasons why you think this is a great product and how it can benefit other members, you’re likely to get many more clicks and purchases from your HopLink. Posting a useful and relevant HopLink and description will also make it more likely that members will trust your recommendations in the future.

The same principle goes for other common promotional techniques like article writing or tapping into your social network— the more relevant and useful the product is to your audience, the better your sales will be.

For more tips on best practices and what techniques to avoid, see our guide Affiliate Dos and Don’ts.
