Clickbank Vendors: Two Simple Ways You Can Help Affiliates Protect Their Sales.

1) How To Remove Your Affiliates Clickbank Id From The URL.

As a merchant, you can hide the clickbank affiliate id for your affiliates by creating a redirect page and pointing your default hoplink to the redirect.

When some uses your hoplink http://hop.clickbank.net/?affid/yourid, the cookie will be set and they will land on your redirect page.

The redirect will send them to your domain without adding the ?hop= information. The cookie is already set and does not need to be shown.

This will help protect your affiliates commission and give your site a more professional appearance.

In the code examples below, you will need to replace [ and ] with less then and greater then symbols.

Create a file called hoplink.php

Add the following code

[?php
header("Location: http://www.yourdomain.com");
exit;
?]

Upload hoplink.php to the root of your domain.

Login into your clickbank account.
Click to view or modify your account settings.
Click to modify your account.

Under Business Info, change the url of your website to be http://www.yourdomain.com/hoplink.php

Click on save changes.

Now when a visitor clicks on a hoplink, it appears that they came directly to your site and the affiliate's id is no longer exposed. For this technique to be completely effective, the affiliate needs to cloak the hoplink as well.

2) How to Cloak Your Clickbank Vendor Id Using PHP

Most clickbank affiliate theft is caused by the fact that is easy to rebuild a hoplink and get credit for your own purchase. All you really need to know is the vendor id.

All you have to do is look at the source code of a typical sales link and you will see the vendor id.

For example:
http://www.clickbank.net/sell.cgi?YourVendorId/1/Product_Description

To rebuild the hoplink you simply use
http://hop.clickbank.net/?AffiliatesId/YourVendorId

Now when you click on the hoplink and the original affiliate has lost a sale.

As you can see, without knowing the vendor id, you can not successfully rebuild the hoplink and the affiliates sale would be protected.

Below is an example of how to do this in PHP.

You will need to replace [ and ] with less then and greater then symbols.

Create a file called order.php

Add the following code

[?php

header("Location: http://www.clickbank.net/sell.cgi?YourVendorId/1/Product_Description");
exit;
?]

Just replace YourVendorID with your Clickbank ID
Replace 1 with your product number
Replace Product_Description with your Product Description

Upload order.php into the same folder as your sales page.

Now link to order.php instead of using the raw order link and your Vendor ID is never exposed

This will make it very hard for affiliates to rob other affiliates of their commissions.

I encourage you to make these simple changes to protect the commissions of your affiliates.

How to Get Paid on Clickbank

By utilizing the Clickbank marketplace, Internet marketers can promote digital products for sizable profits. Authors of digital books register their products through Clickbank, and affiliates handle the marketing process. Each time an affiliate sells a digital product, he nets a commission from the sale. In order to reduce fraud, Clickbank requires affiliates to meet certain requirements before receiving any commission payments. Once an affiliate meets these requirements, he can potentially receive weekly earnings.

Instructions

    • 1
Set up your payment information through the "Account Settings" tab. Scroll down until you see the "Payment Information" field and click "edit." Choose your payment threshold setting and save changes. When you cross this threshold, Clickbank will distribute your earnings.
    • 2
Sell five products to five different customers. To comply with Customer Distribution Requirement (CDR), you must first make five sales that originate from five different credit  cards. This requirement is a measure to reduce incidents of fraud.
    • 3
Wait at least three weeks to receive your first check. Clickbank issues checks two weeks after the end of each payment period. Pay periods end weekly on Wednesdays. If you reach the payment threshold and CDR by the first Wednesday of the month, Clickbank will issue your check on the third Wednesday of the month.
    • 4
Continue receiving paper checks, or opt to receive payments through direct deposit. You can choose direct deposit after Clickbank pays you twice by paper check.

Earning Commissions and Getting Paid

If you’re new to affiliate marketing, the idea of earning commissions for promoting other people’s products can be both exciting and confusing. How do you know how much you’ll earn? How is the sale tracked and reported? When will you get paid for the sales you’ve driven?

Understanding Commissions

Here’s a simple overview of how ClickBank commissions work:

  1. You find a product to promote and create a customized HopLink.
  2. You promote the product online.
  3. A customer clicks on your HopLink, goes to the vendor’s website, and ends up purchasing the product.
  4. The customer purchases the product from ClickBank and you receive credit for promoting the sale.
  5. Your commission is calculated based on the net sale price (see below) and credited to your account within two minutes of the sale.

How Commissions Are Calculated and Reported

Every ClickBank product has a commission rate that is set by the vendor, ranging from 1% to 75%. When you drive a sale to that product, ClickBank processes the sale, applies its charges, then calculates the commission rate based on the remaining net sale amount. Here’s an example of how much you’ll earn on a one-time purchase product with a 55% commission rate:

Retail Price: $29.95
Subtract 7.5% + $1: -$3.25
Net Sale Amount: $26.70
55% of Remainder: $14.69

Therefore, as the referring affiliate for this sale, you would earn $14.69.

Commissions for recurring billing products are slightly different. See Promoting Recurring Billing Products for details.

The maximum commission you can earn on a single sale is $150.

Getting Paid

Obviously, the goal of being an affiliate is to get paid for your efforts. To receive your first commission payment, there are two requirements:

  1. You must reach your payment threshold, which you set in your Account Settings.
  2. You must meet the Customer Distribution Requirement.

For more details about these requirements, please see our Accounting Policy.

Once you’ve met these two requirements, you can start receiving payments. For more details about ClickBank’s payment schedule see Paychecks.

If you’re located in an eligible country, once you’ve received two paper checks from ClickBank within a 12-week time period, you can start receiving payment via direct deposit. Once you become eligible for direct deposit, you can specify this as your payment method in Account Settings->Payment Information. If you are not within a country supported by direct deposit you may be eligible to receive wire payments.

Refunds and Chargebacks

One question you may have is whether you will still receive your affiliate commission if the product is returned or if the customer requests a chargeback on the purchase. Unfortunately, the answer is no. All money is returned to the customer, so the vendor and affiliate must return their portions of the sale as well.

Because of the 60-day return period for all ClickBank products, we utilize a return allowance to cover the possibility of returns.

FAQ

Q: I misspelled my ClickBank nickname in my HopLink and I know I’ve made sales! Can I get that money?

A: Possibly. If the misspelled nickname you used belongs to another ClickBank user, we cannot transfer that money to your account. However, if the misspelled nickname does not belong to anyone else, you can contact customer service for access to that account. All sales made using that nickname will be listed in the account’s sales reporting, even though the account did not exist when the sales were made. However, we cannot transfer money from that account to your main account.

Q: Can vendors cheat affiliates by “undoing” the commission on a sale, or by pretending that a sale was returned?

A: No. Unlike some other affiliate networks, ClickBank handles all sales processing and commission tracking, so vendors cannot attempt to avoid paying commission on a sale. If a vendor approves a refund on a sale, they lose their portion of the sale as well, so there is no incentive for them to pretend that a sale has been refunded.
